leg ten yes bed help set went pen wet any said Remember to review these words Thursday night, before our test on Friday. Sorry for the delay in posting these.... Also, please note that the students in the 1st grade book do not have spelling words yet. If you're not sure which book your child is in, please email me. If your child is working on flashcards, please practice those every night.
Keep in mind these are review words from last year. hat bag as am has sad bat ran sat bad was want Remember, there will be a spelling test Friday for 2nd graders, so if you could have them spell these aloud to you on Thursday that would be great. So what do you guys think??
I am a firm believer that most homework assignments are just extra work that was done in class and can be considered "busy work". So after reading many articles including the one below on the no homework subject, I decided to try this philosophy out and see if it's indeed beneficial. So my plan is.... there will STILL be reading EVERY night. But we will try to get all of our other homework done in class. So the students will still be doing their spelling and math work, it will just be during the school day. If however a student is unable to complete this work in class, only then will they have to complete it at home. So basically, homework will be on a needed basis. I truly believe that there is nothing more important than quality family time together. So by extracting the often stressful homework hour at night will allow for that enjoyable time together. Please take a moment and read the article below. Thanks Mrs. Taylor http://m.today.com/parents/schools-try-no-homework-policies-amid-complaints-about-overload-1D80128324?cid=sm_t_main_1_20140908_31255296 Since the curriculum is ALL review for the first few weeks of school, the homework will be very light. However, we will gradually increase the homework as needed but for this week it will mostly be just reading EVERY night. The students will have to record what they read on the sheet in their folder. If possible, have them write the title themselves. Homework will always be posted here every Monday for the week. All written homework will be checked by Friday.
